A National Network For Advancing Community Prosperity

NACEDA is alliance of 40 state and regional community development associations in 25 states and the District of Columbia who are dedicated to improving places for the people who live and work there.

Through our members, NACEDA connects with almost 4,000 community development nonprofit organizations throughout the United States. Together, we work at the local, state and national levels to advance opportunity and prosperity in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods that have experienced a significant lack of investment.

Healthy Places

Do neighborhoods have access to healthy food? Are the homes in good repair? Is it a walkable neighborhoodAre there community supports in place?

If zip code has a greater impact on health than than genetic code, then improving public health requires health systems to engage in the "zip code improvement business." That means community development.

NACEDA facilitates engagement between the health and community development fields to advance partnerships that improve health outcomes, increase prosperity, and make places better.

Resources for Healthy Places

Creative Places

Leveraging the arts and culture to revitalize communities is the focus of NACEDA's Creative Placemaking Immersion Program. We've partnered with Americans for the Arts to engage community development associations and their arts-based partners in Ohio, Massachusetts, and Philadelphia in an intensive, one-year program to advance creative placemaking in their state or region.

Creative placemaking is a strategy to revitalize communities and local economies by intentionally leveraging the power of arts, culture and creativity. The program is funded in part by a $100,000 Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
