NACEDA Summer Communications & Program Internship

Community economic development creates places of opportunity in low- and moderate-income neighborhoods and communities in the United States by nurturing local businesses, ensuring access to stable, affordable homes, leveraging investment, and creating vibrant income neighborhoods.

NACEDA represents state and regional associations for community development. We advocate for increased federal funding for community development activities, lift the voice of grassroots community development, and support our members’ state-based advocacy efforts. Through 45 state and regional associations in 28 states and the District of Columbia, our network reaches more than 4,000 community-based organizations.

NACEDA seeks an intern to:

  • Research grant opportunities, local solutions into health and creative placemaking;
  • Write for our monthly newsletter which focuses on the social determinants of health, using arts to revitalize communities, model community development initiatives, and training opportunities;
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase social media engagement;
  • Help curate and maintain the NACEDA website;
  • Write a blog that will be posted on the NACEDA website (optional);
  • Attend occasional meetings with national housing and community development advocates;
  • Administrative tasks including scheduling and taking notes during meetings and database maintenance.

NACEDA is a small organization with a strong network that links the local to the national. Interns work closely with the Executive Director, Communications Director, and Membership Director, and have the opportunity to attend high-level strategy meetings, and participate in major advocacy forums.
