Atlanta Communications Training I recently had the pleasure of joining my colleagues from community development associations across the country for a training on effective strategic communications. The timing of this event couldn’t have been more perfect as we were still absorbing the results of the national election which took place just days prior. It’s a time when many of us are asking ourselves, what now?

Our national partner, the National Alliance of Community Economic Development Associations (NACEDA) hosted the training, delivered by Spitfire Strategies with support from JP Morgan Chase. The intent was to learn how to be more strategic in communications by crafting the right message to the right audience and developing objectives to build a plan utilizing a "Smart chart." I believe many of us walked away with something even more valuable however: a fire to dig in and get to work.

One of our training materials had a subhead that read, “sparking will into action.” I think the current landscape is the spark we need to roll up our sleeves and fight for the investments needed to make New Jersey an affordable place we can all call home. The stakes are higher now more than ever and with the 2017 gubernatorial race on the horizon we have an opportunity to inspire change that will Build a Thriving New Jersey.
